Chuck Hayes could return to action for the Sacramento Kings on Wednesday against the Denver Nuggets, Grant Napear reported during the team's game against the Memphis Grizzlies on Saturday. Hayes has been out a couple weeks with a separated shoulder, leaving J.J. Hickson and Jason Thompson to take over his spot. Hayes was injured in Keith Smart's first game at the helm of the Kings, and as such hasn't been able to play under him more than a few minutes. Hayes has been with the team, though, and practiced with the club on Thursday in San Antonio.
Napear said during the Saturday broadcast that if Hayes doesn't make his return on Wednesday, he'd likely play on Saturday against the Utah Jazz. It's unclear whether Smart plans to re-introduce him slowly or thrust him right back into the starting five next to DeMarcus Cousins. Hayes' return likely means fewer minutes for Hickson and Donte Greene, has been playing some smallball four. Smart has frequently relied on tiny lineups with Francisco Garcia or John Salmons at power forward.

I hope they bring Chuck off the bench
JT and Cousins have been playing well together.

Those 3 make a violent front court rotation that never lets up

I hope they leave JT stating too
He brings scoring to the front line that Chuck just doesn’t have. Chuck could still play big minutes of the bench.

On this team...
there is no reason Hayes should be playing more than 20-25 minutes a game.
Great guy. Tough player. Kings should be seeing what they have with Hickson and JT.

I agree

i Agree
Chuck brings toughness to this team but right now JT has been playing well recording double-doubles the last 3 games i guess. He scores and rebounded well let him start then off the bench you call Hayes. Can we let Jimmer shoot well tonight against the Blazers, this guy needs more confidence in his shot and a more effective way for him to make shot is by his teammates helping him, like setting up screens.

yup, with u too

It will be great to see Chuck back playing again. This team needs his voice on the floor.

I would be nervous if I was him coming back early from a shoulder injury
Having had shoulder injuries myself, I feel I would be very tentative on the floor for a while. Probably best to start off the bench for a bit.

from what i read he's had problems with that shoulder since high school
He’s probably got a pretty good read on when it’s ready to go by now.

Whether he starts or not
The Kings need him. I hope Smart runs some plays to utilize his passing skills.
