I’ll take a blowout where I can resign halfway through the game over a blown playoff game in overtime any day. That was the single most depressing game I’ve ever seen.
Until trying to watch this. At least the Niners were competitive and fun to watch.
I’m feeling the apathy start to kick in over the Kings and that sucks considering what unknowns there are past this season.
I don't mind a loss if they show some effort and right now they're lacking effort. How the hell do you allow so many 2nd chance points and play carelessly?
I'm truly trying to stay optimistic this season but I can't wrap my head around why Salmons AND Outlaw are still on this team after 17 games. Our SF position is almost non-existent and Petrie hasn't done anything to fill the need
It reminds me of the Malindas selling off their true bread and butter, (Beer distributorship) , in hopes of what was to be possible in the future, (The Palms).
At some point you have to live within your means. Tyreke can be great in the future, but the Kings need to trade him for someone who can help this team NOW.
we could do ANYTHING other than get blown out. We either win a close, close game or we get run out the gym every single night. These players need some pride….this is pathetic.
The Blazers just keep getting good/lucky shots plus they have really good shooters in Crawford and Matthews. Plus they have Thomas and Smith to do the dirty work. We need Hayes to come back soon.
if the team spent time creating for ferdette tonight, we'd be in this game. Now I'm not saying he's superman, but he's obviously hot right now, and no one else is.
Your damn right portland commentators the kings have ball movement. The reason we didin’t have it earlier is because Gerald fkn Wallace kept playing the passing lanes making us scared to pass.
People keep saying “Give them time”, but by the time they have had enough, contracts will start expiring. You think ’Reke and them will stick around if they get a higher offer (or not) from a championship or playoff caliber team?
It is also true that the Kings were a 6-8 minute lazy stretch (mid-late 2nd quarter) away from making this a game. They just dug themselves too big a hole and had little chance to dig out of it.
Another successful dinner provided by the Kings’ ineptitude! It really is comforting to see the Kings helping out in this recession by giving an arena’s worth of people free food every road game. So thoughtful!
But when I buy tickets to every game of the season, shouldn’t I be entitled to the same things you get if you buy tickets to that one game? Instead, we don’t get any of the shirts from the games UNLESS we spend our points to get them…these are the points you receive for renewing.
Also, I’m disabled and they chase me through the parking lot (even though I have plates on the front AND back) every home game when I drive toward the handicapped parking area.
I could sit here all night telling you all the crap but the short version is NO, the NBA hasn’t made any big changes.
I don’t understand what is going through his head but these flashes of dominance better start getting consistent. Its unbelievable how he can be the best player on the floor some games and completely invisible in others
Thornton and Hayes should not be impact players for ANY team. That would be like saying “Chill Celtics fans, we’re missing Pietrus” or “Don’t worry Dallas, once Yi Jianlian and Dominique Jones are healthy again we’ll be the best in the league”
Not at all what I said. I didn’t say once we get Hayes and Thornton back we will be back in the playoff hunt in no time. Nope, never did. But guess what? This is our team and Thornton is our leading scorer and Hayes might be our best paint defender. Like it or not, you have to deal with it. Sure, their roles might not be as big as they are here on other teams, but thats somethiing we have to deal with. I’ll just stop. Your comment didn’t make that much sense to me.
Vs. Portland – 22 points
Vs. Chicago – 10 points
Vs. New York – 22 points
Vs. Memphis – 17 points
Vs. Denver 27 points
Vs. Orlando – 7 points
Vs. Philadelphia – 27 points
Vs. Houston – 14 points
Vs. Dallas – 39 points
Vs. Minnesota – 13 points
Vs. Memphis – 33 points
Vs. Portland – 12 points
Cousins is fine.
Jimmer is progressing.
Isaiah can move the ball.
Isaiah cannot shoot.
Reke disappears every 3rd game.
Our Help D is bad.
Salmons is worse.
Honestly, I don't blame announcers for poking fun at us.
Maloofs have been major cheapskates, pinching pennies at every turn, trading off good players in salary dumps, overpaying mediocre players, I could go on. When you operate a franchise like this, they fail to show pride in their own operation. It is no wonder others ridicule it.
Should prove that they are willing to spend money on a winning product before they get an arena.
I mean, yes, we’ll get a new arena, but for what? This shit? If they’re going to be this shitty always, the only reason I want them in a new arena is so they don’t tarnish the legacy of Arco Arena [sic].
Go Kings!

Noble_Bloodlines - January 23, 2012

Cousins should be receiving the ball in the post at least 50% of the time and running the offense from there

The Blazers are playing atrocious. Any other NBA team would be right in this

Really don't think you are right about this. They are 6-1 at home. 7-1 after tonight
SPTSJUNKIE - January 23, 2012
I'm talking about this game.
They are shooting 41%. They are bricking dunks and wide open shots. And they’re UP BY 20!
Scirocco - January 23, 2012
And they've made some very difficult shots. Wallace hit a fallaway, contested one hander
That’s basketball
SPTSJUNKIE - January 23, 2012
It doesn't matter what their record is, it's about the desire to win and I don't see a desire from this team right now

The Blazers just keep getting good/lucky shots plus they have really good shooters in Crawford and Matthews. Plus they have Thomas and Smith to do the dirty work. We need Hayes to come back soon.
tidge18 - January 23, 2012
They are absolutely demolishing us on the boards..

everyone should only pass to jimmer on the perimeter

I love Cousins. He's in Kurt Thomas' head

i’m officially watching to see how much Fredette can score. Kings marketing has somewhat paid off.

tidge18 - January 23, 2012
if it wasn't a pic-free thread
This would be perfect timing for “DMC immersed in the Stephen king novel”.
RJinFairOaks - January 23, 2012
Cousins received the ball in the high post and every other king just stood there on the perimeter with their hands out to receive the pass.
Garcia is the lucky recipient and drives. Not a productive offense.
adamsite - January 23, 2012
is wallace and aldridge in? im not getting hopes up
Letsgokings13 - January 23, 2012
Ok
Now get this to single digits and let see some fucking PRIDE
Howard Nevens IV - January 23, 2012
Your damn right portland commentators the kings have ball movement. The reason we didin’t have it earlier is because Gerald fkn Wallace kept playing the passing lanes making us scared to pass.
CousinsEvansDUO - January 23, 2012
horrendous the shooting
jimmer, dmc, garcia only ones scoring well

Noble_Bloodlines - January 23, 2012
lol, dipshit announcer
talking about the current comeback is because the Kings have 15 assists.
Kings had 13 in the 3rd quarter
wallywagon11 - January 23, 2012
don't get me wrong, the passing has been better
but don’t use the assist stat like that
wallywagon11 - January 23, 2012

Scirocco - January 23, 2012
I get to meet Tyreke and DeMarcus when the Kings come here to PHX.
What should I tell them?
Letsgokings13 - January 23, 2012
Tell them to lock themselves in a gym for 72 hours and run 2000 Pick and Rolls.

AnkleMan - January 23, 2012
Can this team guard the perimeter?!
Reke_Havoc13 - January 23, 2012
Not in the play book
along with guarding the paint
kman949 - January 23, 2012
actually yes they can
just not in transition
wallywagon11 - January 23, 2012
They're a young team so
Run the hell back and get in defensive position
Reke_Havoc13 - January 23, 2012
it's usually because they are confused on who guards who
and playing a lot of zone so you have to guard a zone and in transition it can get confusing who gets what
wallywagon11 - January 23, 2012
Little mistakes here and there are adding up
Reke_Havoc13 - January 23, 2012

yeah we could use some guys like Crawford and AK 47
Oh wait…they pretty much told us where to stick it when we tried to sign them.

Dirkula - January 23, 2012
Thornton, Hickson, and Salmons for Paul Pierce
let’s do it
deadenddude - January 23, 2012

adamsite - January 23, 2012
How is that a foul on Cousins. Ugh.
SPTSJUNKIE - January 23, 2012
something i thought of again
where was tyreke to help us? He’s been so great in our wins but… he cant disappear like this, i hardly remember him scoring besides the half courter
AnkleMan - January 23, 2012
He needs a reliable midranger. missing tonight and Portland is very long. Can't rely on layups
SPTSJUNKIE - January 23, 2012
when tyreke does disappear, he disappears hard
AnkleMan - January 23, 2012

BurningFeathers - January 23, 2012
Team is moving the ball better.
Need to learn to play better team D.
Shots also need to go in. Home court will help with that. 8 of our 13 in Feb are on the road, but at least some easier teams.

This
Scirocco - January 23, 2012
that is scary
adamsite - January 23, 2012
I agree, but
It is also true that the Kings were a 6-8 minute lazy stretch (mid-late 2nd quarter) away from making this a game. They just dug themselves too big a hole and had little chance to dig out of it.

Noble_Bloodlines - January 23, 2012
Fuck you Jim Gray!!!

Noble_Bloodlines - January 23, 2012

Dirkula - January 23, 2012
Who else?
Reke_Havoc13 - January 23, 2012
The same family of douches
who want to steal our team.
Noble_Bloodlines - January 23, 2012
Why does Jim Grey always interview the opposing team after we loose?
padding his fucking resume?
adamsite - January 23, 2012
Good question especially since he is being paid by Kings organization.
Slam_Dunk - January 23, 2012
I know alot of Kings fans who complain about this.
Baffling. Almost condescension from the Maloofs, presuming that Kings viewers watch mostly to enjoy the other teams’ superstars.
RJinFairOaks - January 23, 2012
Maloofs have to know we hate this.
Slam_Dunk - January 23, 2012
Yeah
their still butt-hurt they had to stay.
Noble_Bloodlines - January 23, 2012
It seems like their doing all sorts of stuff to keep the fans at arms length...
I know I have been thoroughly disappointed as a season ticket holder this year more than last and that says something.
Noble_Bloodlines - January 23, 2012
Same here, and agreed
My wife has been very disappointed about the lack of halftime shows, for instance.
RJinFairOaks - January 23, 2012
I thought the NBA was supposed to be helping with that sort of thing this season?
darooster - January 23, 2012
They are SUPPOSED to be
But when I buy tickets to every game of the season, shouldn’t I be entitled to the same things you get if you buy tickets to that one game? Instead, we don’t get any of the shirts from the games UNLESS we spend our points to get them…these are the points you receive for renewing.
Also, I’m disabled and they chase me through the parking lot (even though I have plates on the front AND back) every home game when I drive toward the handicapped parking area.
I could sit here all night telling you all the crap but the short version is NO, the NBA hasn’t made any big changes.
Noble_Bloodlines - January 23, 2012
That blows
Obviously the Maloofs haven’t learned a damn thing
darooster - January 23, 2012
That and having Lakers fans in the owners seats on our supposed final night!
Dirkula - January 23, 2012
"Come see Jordan and Bird" may have been a reasonable sell around here in the beginning
But I’m confident that Sactown is past that now. Thanks though, Maloofs.
RJinFairOaks - January 23, 2012
This loss is on Reke
I don’t understand what is going through his head but these flashes of dominance better start getting consistent. Its unbelievable how he can be the best player on the floor some games and completely invisible in others
Scirocco - January 23, 2012
Tyreke needs to go
He’s like the Mercedes the unemployed guy who lives with his parents owns. Trade that sucker in for a good truck and get a job Petrie!
Dirkula - January 23, 2012
Eh. Not bad. 12 on the road to the Blazers who are now 7-1 at home.
Only 1 day off before Denver at home, but then only 2 games in 6 days. Get some practice time in.
SPTSJUNKIE - January 23, 2012
Kings lead the league in feeding the hungry. At least we got a good thing going
Reke_Havoc13 - January 23, 2012
Well, this game was terrible... BUT!!!!!
My New York Giants are in the superbowl, so im still happy.
Tyro18 - January 23, 2012

Is that why you looked so distracted on air?
RJinFairOaks - January 23, 2012

Tyro18 - January 23, 2012
NEW YORK GIANTS
GO NEW YORK GIANTS!!!
Tyro18 - January 23, 2012
Well, I have my pic ready, and it's a real winner.
HarveySpecter - January 23, 2012
Guys chill... playing terrible, but
We are missing Marcus and Hayes bad right now..
Tyro18 - January 23, 2012
2 guys should not be
The be all and end all. They aren’t all-stars.
HarveySpecter - January 23, 2012
And Marcus hasnt really done much this year...
Letsgokings13 - January 23, 2012
Right, and were not a playoff team.
We lost our leading scorer and arguably our best defender in paint.
Their losses are huge.
Tyro18 - January 23, 2012
they sucked with Hayes and Thornton too
deadenddude - January 23, 2012
Okay, keep sticking to having Thomas, Reke, and Salmons taking threes.
Id rather see Thornton back doing what he does. With hayes being vocal on court and defending.
Tyro18 - January 23, 2012
So u would like more 4-14 nights from marcus?
Letsgokings13 - January 23, 2012
duh.
much more than the combined 1-10 from salmons, greene, and thomas.
Tyro18 - January 23, 2012
Under PW
Hayes only played 2 quarters for Smart
Reke_Havoc13 - January 23, 2012
i dont get your point?
Tyro18 - January 23, 2012
Referring to @deadnddude's post
The Kings haven’t had the luxury of a healthy roster under Keith Smart. Who knows how Hayes will be utilized in Smart’s offense
Reke_Havoc13 - January 23, 2012
I'm more interested on how
he is going to impact the Defense
fffindeed - January 23, 2012
oh okay!
Tyro18 - January 23, 2012
Is there an anti-rec?
Thornton and Hayes should not be impact players for ANY team. That would be like saying “Chill Celtics fans, we’re missing Pietrus” or “Don’t worry Dallas, once Yi Jianlian and Dominique Jones are healthy again we’ll be the best in the league”
omikron - January 23, 2012
Um
They are our starting center and starting 2 guard. Tell me any team that wouldn’t be affected by having two starters out.
SavageBeast - January 23, 2012
Okay...wow...
Tyro18 - January 23, 2012
Kings losses so far
Vs. Portland – 22 points
Vs. Chicago – 10 points
Vs. New York – 22 points
Vs. Memphis – 17 points
Vs. Denver 27 points
Vs. Orlando – 7 points

Only one loss that was single digits
Average margin of loss, 20.2 points
But that’s ok, they’re just young…
LOL
deadenddude - January 23, 2012
That just makes me sick.
adamsite - January 23, 2012
Who is to blame?
Slam_Dunk - January 23, 2012
Maloofs.

Quick side note
Caught part of Space Jam on tv the other night, had no idea Westphal had a cameo.
darooster - January 23, 2012
Did he chest bump one of the monsters
After putting him in his place?
SavageBeast - January 23, 2012
Speaking of, that's the idea I had my gif title from (Space Jam)
Best movie ever, though.
It’s hilarious seeing Vlade in it.

but that made me laugh.

That is pretty funny.

Slam_Dunk - January 23, 2012
See Jimmer was minus 16 but 5 for 7 from the field and 3 for 4 from 3 pt range. Did his defense suck as bad as the plus minus would indicate?
bankers hours - January 23, 2012
I didn't think so. He plays the pick and roll the right way. The bigs aren't showing like they are supposed to.
BurningFeathers - January 23, 2012
Yeah, the Kings always seem to do a horrible job executing the pick and roll
Passes are late, bigs aren’t rolling out and not shooting even when they get the pass. This team needs some practice time badly
darooster - January 23, 2012
Felton got whatever he wanted on him
Letsgokings13 - January 23, 2012
Not great.
Although you shouldn’t use that to determine how a single player’s game was during any single game.
HarveySpecter - January 23, 2012
IT needs to find his shot badly
but that is an easy fix considering. 8 assists to 1 TO, that can’t be taught. He has the ability to be a PG in the NBA.
Skeptical Dawg - January 23, 2012
Pretty sure he did find his shot badly
SavageBeast - January 23, 2012
Cousins shows his consistency, yet again.
Where is Tyreke?
Slam_Dunk - January 23, 2012
gotta agree with this
Tyreke should be more consistent. He’s more experienced, healthy, and level headed. Something is a miss
adamsite - January 23, 2012
Just goes to show that elite bigs are needed along with balanced guard play

Tyro18 - January 23, 2012
In other news around the NBA
The Grizz just cut their 20 point deficit to just 1 with a minute to go against the Warriors
Reke_Havoc13 - January 23, 2012
Other teams may beat the Kings on the court
But you will never have cheesier commercials than us, bitches! WE’RE NO. 1!
darooster - January 23, 2012
The Skinny
Cousins is fine.
Jimmer is progressing.
Isaiah can move the ball.
Isaiah cannot shoot.
Reke disappears every 3rd game.
Our Help D is bad.
Salmons is worse.

Salmons
0/4FG 0/1 from 3 , 1 TO. The positive is that he only played 19 minutes
Reke_Havoc13 - January 23, 2012
If he plays no minutes at all
Maybe Aykis will put him in “The Good”

Keep the Dubs behind us.
SavageBeast - January 23, 2012
Smart post game:
“When you are not making shots, your head drops.”
“We have to rebound better against teams like this.”
Slam_Dunk - January 23, 2012
Im so sick of hearing "they got to get experience and grow"
i miss the playoffs and having a talented team that loves playing withe achother
Tyro18 - January 23, 2012
I miss the days when announcers would ooh and ah over awesome Kings plays.
It’s pinnacle about 10 years ago, but haven’t heard anything for several years.
HarveySpecter - January 23, 2012
Now they only take cheap shots and poke fun at us. And doubt our arena hopes.
Tyro18 - January 23, 2012
Honestly, I don't blame announcers for poking fun at us.
Maloofs have been major cheapskates, pinching pennies at every turn, trading off good players in salary dumps, overpaying mediocre players, I could go on. When you operate a franchise like this, they fail to show pride in their own operation. It is no wonder others ridicule it.
Slam_Dunk - January 23, 2012
Yup
HarveySpecter - January 23, 2012
I mean honestly, I almost feel that the Maloofs
Should prove that they are willing to spend money on a winning product before they get an arena.
I mean, yes, we’ll get a new arena, but for what? This shit? If they’re going to be this shitty always, the only reason I want them in a new arena is so they don’t tarnish the legacy of Arco Arena [sic].
HarveySpecter - January 23, 2012
And by winning product, I mean do whatever it takes
To get some GOOD players who can also be playmakers and be part of a cohesive unit.
HarveySpecter - January 23, 2012
Right! They should have that competitive spirit to build a team to win a championship.
Slam_Dunk - January 23, 2012
So all we need to do to win is get some good players
Wonder why GP never thought of that?
SavageBeast - January 23, 2012
I think his point was that the Maloofs are the problem in player acquisition.
Slam_Dunk - January 24, 2012
We need the arfena regardless
but hopefully the league will step in and force a sale after we build it.
Noble_Bloodlines - January 23, 2012
*arena
Noble_Bloodlines - January 23, 2012
THIS
Noble_Bloodlines - January 23, 2012
We will beat the nuggets. I just know it.
CousinsEvansDUO - January 23, 2012
Maybe we should get Bill Murray to play for us.
“Hey, I didn’t know Dan Aykroyd was in this picture!”
HarveySpecter - January 23, 2012
Kings are playing zone...
On offense.
