Marcus Thornton taking a Dwight knee to the leg reminds me of the same thing that happened to C. Billups last season that sidelined him for the playoffs…
Fredette, a rookie known for his shooting, can’t break 37%. I’m not a fan of Salmons, but he’s had a decent career, and minutes shouldn’t be awarded to players simply for the hype that surrounds them.
I wana cry so hard right now man…….we kept tieing the game and still lost…………. with howard with alot of fouls. PLEASE SOMEBODY BEAT UP RYAN ANDERSON IF YOU EVER SEE HIM
Jimmer played all the crunch time minutes in win over Bucks
I didn’t see a lot of the game, but it seemed Smart was playing some disjointed lineups at the end of the game. Having Donte and Thomas on the floor in crunch time? Head scratcher/
We were switching very effectively at the end of the first half and that makes everybody, including Jimmer, look a lot better on D and it also gets us running on the offensive end.
I think we have to play the people WE want to play in crunch time and make other teams adjust to us, not the other way around. I thought we did a good job of that in the Bucks game. Not so much at the end tonight.
I’m not trying to come across as rude, but Fredette has done nothing to prove he’s a crunch time player since coming to Sacramento. Hopefully that will change as the season progresses, but as of right now he doesn’t deserve any more time on the court than Thomas.
How about explaining who you’d prefer on the court in his place? And 9th straight game without production? Did you watch the Bucks game the other night?
well, if he only watched the first three quarters of the Bucks game ...
joking aside thought Salmons, JT, and Tyreke played pretty darn good. JJ had a little really good and a little real bad while DMC was just fantastic and horrid.
Dude. You clearly don't like Evans, but your statements make no sense.
Evans just shot 10-16, 8-10 from the line. And had 28-4-8 with 2 steals and a block. 2/1 assist to turnover. He also had the hockey assist on Thornton’s big three when he drove and the Magic doubled.
If you are going to crucify Evans because he was caught in the corner after a two man game with Cousins and no one moving off the ball, then I seriously question how much you know about basketball.
Fair criticism of a player is one thing, but taking thinly veiled shots at Evans after that performance sounds petty and tone deaf.
Salmons has been pretty bad, though every once in a while he’ll give you something. Garcia is what he is, I don’t think he’s that bad, I like him, he’s a good role player. And Greene is a decent defender, but sometimes lacks knowledge of situations, which is why he makes mistakes or takes early 3’s, but he is doing a better job at just taking open shots
Neither Garcia nor Donte have played too much. But, what little play they have had hasn’t been too inspiring. They haven’t come into a game hit some threes and gotten the team going.
As far a Salmons, he’s frustrating, because he can play really well and be a real factor, but other than a few good plays here and there, he has been more of a let-down. I think it is risky to bring a player back onto a team when you have traded him away.
Well Garcia played that way in the first game he played
But hasn’t shown much since, Greene hasn’t at all. The fact that I said depressing was in response to SoCal asking if anyone disliked all of them which I don’t.
Certainly know he is capable of that, as that has been his trademark. That has also been Greene’s, but he just hasn’t had that much play, so I guess that can be a factor for him.
Oops forgot about him, which should tell you something
When we signed him, I hoped he would be able to come in and help with some scoring and shooting; he hasn’t done either, I’m still hoping he could get his shot back. What’s surprised me is that his D hasn’t been as bad as I thought, and his rebounding is decent. So basically Salmons>Garica=Outlaw=Greene>Honeycutt, as of right now.
When he describes the situation, he is visualizing the whole floor and seeing what needs to be done. I have a lot of hope that he is going to make some significant changes for the team.
I’m really tired of watching tyreke dribble down the court and jack shots all the time without passing especially when they are garbage shots.its really getting old. What some don’t realize is that these games are based on Thornton and tyreke being hot. If they are on kings win if they are off kings lose. They really need to learn to pass to wide open players instead of them always wanting to be the ones to shine in the end.Its selfish ball plain and simple
but great teams learn to trust in their role players
when their stars are off. Yes I saw glimpses of great assists but I still saw a player that would rather shoot than distribute the ball right away. To me that is not a true pg
He could've had more too but missing open shots, or teammates getting fouled don't count
He is passing more and trying to move the ball, but there are times we need him to score, and sometimes he tries too hard to get into the paint to get a shot. His misses were magnified because it was crunch time, but he really didn’t have too many better options at that time
His shot is still so bad! Fades away on everything and is always short. WTF is he doing during the offseason because it can’t be practicing on his jumper…
The guy has 28pts & 8ast & it’s still not good enough. Here’s a freakin news flash: Tyreke is not Steve Nash & will never be Steve Nash get over it already.
I didn’t realize his assists were so high tonight. The bad shots he took just stood out to me I guess. If he had 8 assists then that is encouraging.I just hate seeing the kings lose.
Tyreke’s 62% FG and 80% FT, with 8 assists was the dagger to the Kings’ hopes for success. He should have got the ball to Jimmer or Isiaah more, I am sure.
I missed the game, but I read the play-by-play in the 4th Q.
Got killed by the dagger 3pters in the end, we draw close/tie/ahead and Bam! If we had an answer of our own, we would have won, sure of it.
Salmons, as much as I’m not a fan, seems to be playing his role better. Maybe not on individual sets, or on offense, but he’s getting steals and stuff, and his +/- is positive, so must be doing something right.
I think Reke is really hitting his stride in the past games
Except the Denver/Memphis games, he is starting to dominate and gain confidence in what he can do. 8 assists in this one, 10 rebounds in the last game, he is looking like his old self again. I think its just a combination of clutch plays from Orlando and bad breaks from us that did us in this game. But I’m happy with this result. If you look at our stats we have a pretty solid team when everyone’s clicking. Just imagine if we made some of those three’s.
He’s best at his position now, honestly. IF we had a pure PG, I’d agree, but for now, Salmon’s is better suited for the position, on this team.
While Tyreke could play SF, his size advantage would lost, and in fact, often he’d be smaller than his opponent by an inch or two and twenty pounds. He would be quicker in most cases, but not all. On top of that, a SF is expected to have a minor amount of low post talent, and Reke has non that I’ve noted.
Go Kings!

JT playing defensive back
VenomySnicket - January 8, 2012
Amazing
SPTSJUNKIE - January 8, 2012
I love JT's game tonight
lots of hustle, and good movement without the ball. Good D on Howard too
sdfd - January 8, 2012
Cuz and Jimmer!
Czar Nickoli - January 8, 2012
JT reminds me of Dwight a little bit
Just without most of the skill and athleticism.

just not explosive

Czar Nickoli - January 8, 2012
Although I hate the Broncos
loved that
wallywagon11 - January 8, 2012
Just amazing
raiderking21 - January 8, 2012
I slightly agree with that
it was a game in which I didn’t know who to root for based off equal hatred for both teams
Czar Nickoli - January 8, 2012
I know I already said it
but don’t get all the Tebow freaking out so for me it’s mildly comical to see people furious that the guy wins a game.
wallywagon11 - January 8, 2012
and given I don't think he's anything more than a one trick poney and won't have the greatest career
totally cool seeing him being the starter in Denver

OKO - January 8, 2012
He has to earn them
SPTSJUNKIE - January 8, 2012
i agree, but
what has Salmons done to earn his 30 plus mpg?? And hes always out there
OKO - January 8, 2012
Salmons is a proven veteran
Fredette, a rookie known for his shooting, can’t break 37%. I’m not a fan of Salmons, but he’s had a decent career, and minutes shouldn’t be awarded to players simply for the hype that surrounds them.
Olde Greg - January 8, 2012
who is coming in for him?
wallywagon11 - January 8, 2012
Well he did shoot his own 29 foot shot
He has that range but not really a play he should’ve made
raiderking21 - January 8, 2012
dont worry tyreke will make the right decisions with the ball.
sacman - January 8, 2012
Jimmer, Thornton, Tyreke, JT, DMC

The Magic are just better. And there’s nothing wrong with that for now.
VenomySnicket - January 8, 2012

Oh well… We played a hell of a lot better than I thought we would
SoCal Diplomat - January 8, 2012

haglnuts - January 8, 2012 via mobile

in case you didnt notice, dont think Smart is a big fan
OKO - January 8, 2012
he doesn't notice
bignerd - January 8, 2012
Agenda
SPTSJUNKIE - January 8, 2012
Jimmer played all the crunch time minutes in win over Bucks
I didn’t see a lot of the game, but it seemed Smart was playing some disjointed lineups at the end of the game. Having Donte and Thomas on the floor in crunch time? Head scratcher/
NewEraKings - January 8, 2012
According to him, matchups
Thomas on Jameer, and Donte on Anderson I guess
raiderking21 - January 8, 2012
Thomas on Jameer is OK on defense
But not as productive on offense.
We were switching very effectively at the end of the first half and that makes everybody, including Jimmer, look a lot better on D and it also gets us running on the offensive end.
NewEraKings - January 8, 2012
Anderson was 5-16
so just about anyone on him is OK.
I think we have to play the people WE want to play in crunch time and make other teams adjust to us, not the other way around. I thought we did a good job of that in the Bucks game. Not so much at the end tonight.
NewEraKings - January 8, 2012
Exactly!
Just more ego over team mentality…
haglnuts - January 8, 2012 via mobile
What makes you say that?
I’m not trying to come across as rude, but Fredette has done nothing to prove he’s a crunch time player since coming to Sacramento. Hopefully that will change as the season progresses, but as of right now he doesn’t deserve any more time on the court than Thomas.
Olde Greg - January 8, 2012
no ball movement at the end killed the team
sdfd - January 8, 2012
that always kills them
sacman - January 8, 2012
Ball movement was fine for most of the game
Tyreke actually moved the ball pretty well
raiderking21 - January 8, 2012
Walton is getting way too critical
Peaches is about to snap
OKO - January 8, 2012
I wish Walton would never call another game after this one
ap3604 - January 8, 2012
Why not? He's absolutely right
I find him obnoxious, but it’s not as if he’s lying about the way the team is playing.
Olde Greg - January 8, 2012
we still looked better than most PW Kings teams
we’ve still gotta grow and get better IMO
jadams12 - January 8, 2012
Underestimated the Magic
They didn’t need D12 to beat Kings. Damn good team.
Sacramental - January 8, 2012 via mobile
Yeah people underestimate the Magic alot
I think their current roster is almost as good as their finals team of before
ap3604 - January 8, 2012

pakyubai - January 8, 2012 via mobile
We played a great game!
Despite what Walton has to say. Keep this guy away from our team.
Slam_Dunk - January 8, 2012

Slam_Dunk - January 8, 2012
Whaddayamean?

Sacramental - January 8, 2012
Instead of blaming one player
How about explaining who you’d prefer on the court in his place? And 9th straight game without production? Did you watch the Bucks game the other night?
Olde Greg - January 8, 2012
well, if he only watched the first three quarters of the Bucks game ...
joking aside thought Salmons, JT, and Tyreke played pretty darn good. JJ had a little really good and a little real bad while DMC was just fantastic and horrid.
wallywagon11 - January 8, 2012
Bill Walton is the biggest rambler ever

ap3604 - January 8, 2012
With all due respect,
I turned on him at the beginning of the first thread.
section214 - January 8, 2012
another close game
we were killed by one on oneplay atbthe end of the game again. Every fucking close game is the same
sacman - January 8, 2012
Dammit Reke!
bignerd - January 8, 2012
Well, at least it wasn't a blowout.
swoosh91 - January 8, 2012
Second.
raiderking21 - January 8, 2012
another close game? Every fucking close game is the same?
what team have you been watching this year?
wallywagon11 - January 8, 2012
other than the fact that it's been the polar opposite of what you wrote
totally dead on
wallywagon11 - January 8, 2012
SPTSJUNKIE - January 8, 2012
he did say at the end
Either way so far Tyreke is our best facilator. That might not be saying much and probably a reason for our struggles but it is what it is
wallywagon11 - January 8, 2012
Ha!
Definition of a troll
raiderking21 - January 8, 2012
haven't payed attention to the username
but just reading that one comment on it’s own, don’t see the big deal
wallywagon11 - January 8, 2012
although yes I would question where all these close losses are coming from
wallywagon11 - January 8, 2012
He's been doing everything a troll does
Only commenting when something bad happens and Tyreke is involved
raiderking21 - January 8, 2012
This. Go back and search his comments in the game thread. Every post was a shot at Evans
SPTSJUNKIE - January 8, 2012
Jim Gray wtf with that question
does he always have an agenda? lol
Apoet - January 8, 2012
That's Jim Gray for ya
raiderking21 - January 8, 2012
why was this a day game with NFL playoffs?
doesnt anybody know?
OKO - January 8, 2012
Sunday
wallywagon11 - January 8, 2012
They used to play at 6pm?
bignerd - January 8, 2012
Every team has early Sunday games
Even West Coast teams
raiderking21 - January 8, 2012
Well, at least we were in this one
until the last 3 minutes. They will have to learn what to do in crunch time and I think Smart wili figure it out.
Bill2 - January 8, 2012
Peaches is trying hard to not break out laughing.
Bill2 - January 8, 2012
Sad that's the last Kings game I get to watch
but oh well.
SoCal Diplomat - January 8, 2012
At least they were competitive
Instead of a blowout like before.
raiderking21 - January 8, 2012
Who else is sad that jimmer didin’t hit a 3 tonight :(
CousinsEvansDUO - January 8, 2012
Can't find the net
It’s what he’s known for though, so I think he’ll be fine
raiderking21 - January 8, 2012
DMC 16-10-3
Nice stat sheet
SoCal Diplomat - January 8, 2012
Dwight only played 7 minutes.
smh
SoCal Diplomat - January 8, 2012
Howard played 19 minutes
raiderking21 - January 8, 2012
My bad. NBA.com said 7 minutes before they updated their box scores
Am I the only one that dislikes all of our 3’s
SoCal Diplomat - January 8, 2012
With the exception of our little project
Honeycutt
SoCal Diplomat - January 8, 2012
that's only because he's nothing more than a dream for you right now
wallywagon11 - January 8, 2012
or expectations in your head
wallywagon11 - January 8, 2012
Rather because I haven't seen him play enough yet.
And because he I think he has a good deal of potential
SoCal Diplomat - January 8, 2012
Ehh
Salmons has been pretty bad, though every once in a while he’ll give you something. Garcia is what he is, I don’t think he’s that bad, I like him, he’s a good role player. And Greene is a decent defender, but sometimes lacks knowledge of situations, which is why he makes mistakes or takes early 3’s, but he is doing a better job at just taking open shots
raiderking21 - January 8, 2012
I haven't too impressed with any of them this season.
Slam_Dunk - January 8, 2012
Impressed? No.
Depressed? Maybe a little with Salmons, but I don’t dislike them.
Do I wish we had better 3’s? Yes, but I’m living with what we got
raiderking21 - January 8, 2012
I'm already thinking
Harrison Barnes
SoCal Diplomat - January 8, 2012
Great... another young rookie
Don’t get me wrong I like him, but it’s starting to get tiresome banking on a rookie to help
raiderking21 - January 8, 2012
But he would be the first rookie we get with
a high basketball IQ. And we’re gonna be in the lottery anyways so it doesn’t hurt to look ahead at what’s available.
SoCal Diplomat - January 8, 2012
Yeah I guess
I guess we’ll see when draft time comes around
raiderking21 - January 8, 2012
I'm not depressed about any of them.
Slam_Dunk - January 8, 2012
Well Garcia played that way in the first game he played
But hasn’t shown much since, Greene hasn’t at all. The fact that I said depressing was in response to SoCal asking if anyone disliked all of them which I don’t.
Agree with you in regards to Salmons though
raiderking21 - January 8, 2012
I missed the first game, so I missed that.
Certainly know he is capable of that, as that has been his trademark. That has also been Greene’s, but he just hasn’t had that much play, so I guess that can be a factor for him.
Slam_Dunk - January 8, 2012
Garcia's first game was the 4th game of the season I believe
He came in and hit 2 threes. He’s been invisible since.
Donte’s inconsistency hasn’t changed
raiderking21 - January 8, 2012
the fact I have zero problems with Salmons minutes
kind of says it all
Outlaw, Garcia, and Donte. Yikes.
wallywagon11 - January 8, 2012
Yeah Salmons is clearly better than those three
Too much inconsistency and average-to-below average D there
raiderking21 - January 8, 2012
And Outlaw?
SoCal Diplomat - January 8, 2012
Oops forgot about him, which should tell you something
When we signed him, I hoped he would be able to come in and help with some scoring and shooting; he hasn’t done either, I’m still hoping he could get his shot back. What’s surprised me is that his D hasn’t been as bad as I thought, and his rebounding is decent. So basically Salmons>Garica=Outlaw=Greene>Honeycutt, as of right now.
raiderking21 - January 8, 2012
Smart seems like such a visual thinker to me.
When he describes the situation, he is visualizing the whole floor and seeing what needs to be done. I have a lot of hope that he is going to make some significant changes for the team.
Slam_Dunk - January 8, 2012
Kings were 3 of 20 from 3 point land :(
BurningFeathers - January 8, 2012
And all three from Thornton I believe
raiderking21 - January 8, 2012
MT 3-9 from 3....5 -16 overall 0 assists....fair defense @ best
Pdidd - January 8, 2012
reke
I’m really tired of watching tyreke dribble down the court and jack shots all the time without passing especially when they are garbage shots.its really getting old. What some don’t realize is that these games are based on Thornton and tyreke being hot. If they are on kings win if they are off kings lose. They really need to learn to pass to wide open players instead of them always wanting to be the ones to shine in the end.Its selfish ball plain and simple
mmarcum - January 8, 2012
Strange how a team depends on its best players playing good to win right?
Really hard to pass the ball to teammates who don’t move much off-the-ball and who miss open shots when they do get passes
raiderking21 - January 8, 2012
but great teams learn to trust in their role players
when their stars are off. Yes I saw glimpses of great assists but I still saw a player that would rather shoot than distribute the ball right away. To me that is not a true pg
mmarcum - January 8, 2012
True PG's don't always equal winning teams
Great teams trust their role players, but when they stand around and miss open shots, passing doesn’t make anything better
raiderking21 - January 8, 2012
you have a good point and I didn't realize that rekes assist stats were so high tonight.
I guess the bad shots he chose really stood out to me.But that is encouraging if he really got 8 assists.
mmarcum - January 8, 2012
He could've had more too but missing open shots, or teammates getting fouled don't count
He is passing more and trying to move the ball, but there are times we need him to score, and sometimes he tries too hard to get into the paint to get a shot. His misses were magnified because it was crunch time, but he really didn’t have too many better options at that time
raiderking21 - January 8, 2012
His shot is still so bad! Fades away on everything and is always short. WTF is he doing during the offseason because it can’t be practicing on his jumper…
Since'89 - January 8, 2012
He's probably been practicing the set jump shot which looks alot smoother this year
The off-the-dribble shot still looks bad most of the time.
raiderking21 - January 8, 2012
OMFG
The guy has 28pts & 8ast & it’s still not good enough. Here’s a freakin news flash: Tyreke is not Steve Nash & will never be Steve Nash get over it already.
Allbenji - January 8, 2012 via mobile
Tyreke averaging 8 assists wouldn't be enough for them
raiderking21 - January 8, 2012
I think they want him to be in-his-prime Steve Nash AND in-his-prime Michael Jordan
because young Nash didn’t have the dazzling assist numbers, & young Jordan had no legit mid-range game (it was something that arrived in the 90s).
elfboy_ - January 8, 2012
Yep -
This would be a good night for the Tyreke bashers to take a break. He was the main reason that the Kings stayed in the game tonight.
Don’t worry, ye of Tyreke vitriol. He will give you other chances to spew. But for tonight, such comments just make a person look that of a troll.
section214 - January 8, 2012
like I said
I didn’t realize his assists were so high tonight. The bad shots he took just stood out to me I guess. If he had 8 assists then that is encouraging.I just hate seeing the kings lose.
mmarcum - January 8, 2012
Don't worry, we all do
Frustrations get the better of all of us sometimes
raiderking21 - January 8, 2012
Steve Nash wasn't even Steve Nash until he was put in D'antoni's system
He averaged 6.75 assists in his 6 seasons in Dallas. Pretty damn good but mediocre to 11 assists he averaged in his 7 seasons in Phoenix.
Allbenji - January 8, 2012 via mobile
And despite that, Phoenix never made it to the Finals with him
raiderking21 - January 8, 2012
Good call mmarcum
Tyreke’s 62% FG and 80% FT, with 8 assists was the dagger to the Kings’ hopes for success. He should have got the ball to Jimmer or Isiaah more, I am sure.
WebberDynasty - January 8, 2012
He should get the ball to Jimmer more
NewEraKings - January 8, 2012
I think good effort from this team.
Maybe not on individual sets, or on offense, but he’s getting steals and stuff, and his +/- is positive, so must be doing something right.
elfboy_ - January 8, 2012
Salmons played half-way decent in this game
We lost because our defensive rotations were bad and too much 1-on-1 in the end after ORL tightened up the D
raiderking21 - January 8, 2012
Possible regression to 1-on-1
because we were turning the ball over when ORL tightened up and we couldn’t get open, or because the players were tired and stopped moving?
elfboy_ - January 8, 2012
A little of both
When we tried some stuff, it was usually a two man game with Reke and Cousins with everyone else standing on the opposite end
raiderking21 - January 8, 2012
I think Reke is really hitting his stride in the past games
Except the Denver/Memphis games, he is starting to dominate and gain confidence in what he can do. 8 assists in this one, 10 rebounds in the last game, he is looking like his old self again. I think its just a combination of clutch plays from Orlando and bad breaks from us that did us in this game. But I’m happy with this result. If you look at our stats we have a pretty solid team when everyone’s clicking. Just imagine if we made some of those three’s.
tidge18 - January 8, 2012
Evans is very talented. I think he would be even better for the team if they played him at small forward.
ExPFCWintergreen - January 8, 2012
Nah.
