#SayYes To The Parking Plan

A pretty rad hashtag campaign blew up late Monday as Kings fans and Sacramento residents present reasons that the Sacramento City Council should "#SayYes" to the parking plan item on Tuesday's City Council agenda. The item to be voted on Tuesday would winnow down the list of qualified bidders for the parking contract and essentially kick-start the bid process on that end. In two weeks, the council would be expected to come back with a deal to be approved.

Let's hear your #SayYes reasons in the comments. We'll tweet some of them out from @sactownroyalty, which you should definitely follow if you are on Twitter and love liberty.

Say yes to the parking plan, for the sake of our city.
#SayYes, because there is not a single logical reason outside of political propaganda not to
#SayYes

Because there’s a reason so many other cities would LOVE to have the Kings, and I don’t want to find out the truth to the saying “absence makes the heart grow fonder”.

Look at Seattle, a city that refused to build a new arena and now they’re scrambling to do just that after witnessing their Supersonics become a contender in Oklahoma.

What we lack in a Kevin Durant

We make up for in a Whiteside. I really could see this team flipping the switch pretty soon. I don’t think we’ll jump to contender quite like OKC has done, but I do see them growing up the ranks pretty quickly. We need for this to happen in Sac!!

#SayYes

Because my son is going to grow older, and we will visit relatives in Sacramento, and I want to be able to show my son around the town where I was born and have a sense of pride. I want to take him to a Kings game at the new ESC, the complex he’ll surely have seen on our television countless times, and I want him to be in awe.

#SayYes

Because the Kings are part of my identity, and if they leave, part of me dies.

#SayYes

Because it’s not just about the economy or money, it’s about people as well!

#SayYes to invest in the future of Sacramento!
#Say Yes

Because we’re the capital of California, and we need the jobs and something to be proud of. Stop living in the stone-age Council!!!

#SayYes to the Parking Plan

Because even Sandy Sheedy has kids or grand kids who don’t want to drive to San Jose just to see a quality Disney on Ice showing.

#Say yes

Because we elected you to make this City something to be proud of.

#SayYes

Because all those new jobs will probably get you re-elected.

#SayYes because Sac doesn't want to be Fresno.
#SayYes because it will be an amazing achievement to enjoy and share with the world.
#Say Yes

Because in a town ravaged by unemployment, recession, the housing bust and politicians too afraid to make the right decisions for fear of being shunned by voters; Hope is our biggest weapon.

And as the immortal Andy Dufresne said – “there are places in this world that aren’t made out of stone. That there’s something inside… that they can’t get to, that they can’t touch. That’s yours… Hope”

So “Say Yes” to keep our collective hope alive. Give me hope that this team will stay. Give me hope that change can be made, and give me hope that Sacramento can keep inching closer towards morphing into the World Class Destination it can be.

Obviously i chose to ignore the 140 character limit.
You're a Rebel with a Good Cause.

#SayYes because you dont want this hash tag to be #occupyyourfrontyard
#SayYes because without a yes vote, we'll soon be parking horses around here again
#SayYes

#SayYes because the capital of the best state in the country deserves it.

#SayYes because I already live 90 minutes away from big-time entertainment and I don’t want that to still be the case when I move to Sac.

#SayYes because the people of this city deserve it.

#SayYes because it’s about so much more than basketball.

#SayYes

Because we don’t want to become the next Seattle.

#SayYes

Social media political activists have a long memory, and we are passionate about this issue. #HereWeSayYes #SayYes

#SayYes

#SayYes Because some day I want to go with my kids to a SACRAMENTO Kings game like I’ve gone with my Dad.

#SayYes because the Maloof's likely can't afford to stay, even with a new arena.

#SayYes because the people in the capitol city of one of the most desirable states in the country deserve to be treated as first-class citizens.

#SayYes because the Kings are the only reason I drive up from SF to Sac to spend my time and money
#SayYes because even if you don't like the Kings...

The difference between the lost revenue by not building and the gained revenue from it looks to be greater than the amount of revenue from the parking assets and the city’s total contribution. Not to mention more jobs, having a revitalized downtown, more big-time events, etc.

#SayYes to build a better Sacramento. Start changing tomorrow today.
#SayYes because you don't want to be that one council member that messed up the unanimous decision!

#SayYes

#SayYes because more of my students in China have heard of Sacramento than San Francisco because they aren’t the “San Francisco Warriors”
