Bad foul call. But I was glad to see Demarcus not get in face of official. Especially liked it earlier when he raised his hand immediately after called for his 3rd foul. Have to play the game with officials
So just because he is part of another blog, he cant post here?
He was posting during the whole game, not just at the end. As for the pics, different blogs have different rules and he didn’t know ours, he apologized, and its all done now.
I'm not trying to be a dick about any of this dude, nor have I been a dick in your game threads all night
I already apologized twice, so at this point, I’m questioning your literacy more than my own. Not sure what else to say. Different blogs have different rules. I’ve never posted on an SBNation blog that didn’t allow pics in game threads so this is a new one for me.
WHY IS SALMONS IN THE GAME WHY IS SALMONS IN THE GAME WHY IS SALMONS IN THE GAME WHY IS SALMONS IN THE GAME WHY IS SALMONS IN THE GAME WHY IS SALMONS IN THE GAME WHY IS SALMONS IN THE GAME WHY IS SALMONS IN THE GAME WHY IS SALMONS IN THE GAME WHY IS SALMONS IN THE GAME
Why do you get great success with your starting 5 tonight and then the WHOLE 4th quarter you rock the Chuck Hayes and John Salmons in the lineup? Go to what was working!
you put Isaiah in when there was NO time for him to do anything…sheesh.
Did we lose when we should have? Sure… but in other news, GOOD news… Jeremy Lin and the Knicks are looking like they might lose… not TOO big?… their about to lose to the Hornets…
Were not the only people hurting tonight… take a deep breathe and lets go get em’ next game.
what is up with Smart taking a month to start IT over Salmons? Its pretty clear that that brief stretch of Salmons being a closer was just an apparation. No excuse to be putting him in at the end of games instead of Thornton. Smarten up, coach
I’d have said it- make a deal and start the process this team needs to take the next step. Cut any ties possible with Salmons, and invest in your starting 5. Let the bench guys stand up.
You traded Knight for Jimmer AND SALMONS??? I know that wasn’t the actual trade but that basically how it ended up. We would have been better off taking Stephen Jackson over Salmons. At least Jackson still has some game & has more swagger in his pinky than Salmons & Jimmer combined.
Its not like its going to happen or its a possibility. It was more of respect by James and a nice gesture pretty much saying there is no love lost between him and the city for how they treated him when he left and how he treated them.
It’d be more like C-Webb leaving instead of resigning the big contract in Sacto years ago, and then wanting to return here at the end of his career. Completely different.
Of course its different, thats why they are ASKING HIM!
They don’t just ask Peja randomly after winning a title with Mavs “So Peja..any interest in returning to Kings before you retire?”
They are asking Lebron only because of all the hate there is apparently involved and he answered in a nice and positive way. Thats the nicest way to answer it aside from not answering at all!
Don’t be biased. If Bibby, Webber, Peja, etc. wanted to sign with us at 36 to retire a king, you’d welcome it.
You compared Lebron and Bibby, Peja, Webber. The big difference is, none of them ever gave Sacramento a giant middle finger like Lebron gave to Cleveland.
Thats why I am saying this. Stop thinking like a Kings fan, and think like a Cavs fan. If you want to think like a Kings fan, thats why I made that point, you would be open to their return. But if your a cavs fan, its different, because Lebron DID give them a huge middle finger and left.. so if your a Cavs fan, does Lebrons words mean anything, and would you welcome him back even to finish out his career? That was the point I was making.
Tonight’s loss sheds even the faintest glimmer of hope that the Kings had a remote possibility of making the playoffs should they start rattling off some wins.
Not that Outlaw has been great, but Salmons went from a ballhog who could at least score a bit to a total waste of a roster spot. Outlaw has had at least a couple of passable/acceptable games.
This is not rocket science its fucking basketball im really left scratching my head about this one. John Salmons is garbage whould not play more than 10 minutes EVER!!!!! So Frustrated Night All gonna go drink my sorrows away
Smart put Salmons in over Isaiah to try to slow Prince and Stuckey, but it stifled our fast break offense in the process. And o yeah, Salmons can’t guard either one of those guys.
He will defend the move, but I call wimpy coaching. Go with the guys who were responsible for generating the lead. Not to mention Isaiah plays solid man defense and even better help defense.
And it was stupid to foul with 27 seconds left and down by two points.
After the inevitable letdown/reality check that was the Phoenix game, I pretty much resigned myself to the rest of the season. From here on I’m just looking for player development, team chemistry, etc. and not worrying about wins. This is still a bad team despite their periodic teasing of good play. Another high draft pick could be big.
But certainly an EXTREMELY small sample size. I want to see where he is at the end of the year. But he could certainly do worse for teammates to pass to – Melo and Amare? A PG has to be happy with that. Provided he doesn’t care about ever getting the ball passed back to him.
When you are 10th in the MVP race on NBA.com and SportCenter is constantly talking about how he is going to change the NBA, etc. YES he is overrated. Now, when I say Overrated, I don’t mean he isn’t that good that they are claiming he is, Im simply saying, for what hes done, and how long, yes he is overrated.
Let me see him do this for the rest of the year AT LEAST, and perhaps one more season, and give it all to him all you want. But as of now, he is being overrated.
If every player was treated like Jerome James, we would have a lot of problems. Lets give Lin time to see if he keeps it up.
He’s been one of the most consistent Kings this year. I’ve been waiting several years for him to get his act together. I’d hate to see him go right when he’s finally getting it together.
The fact that DMC’s career high is only 28 shows how awful the rest of the team is at feeding Cousins the ball. He should be averaging 28 points a game on this Kings team.
That was heart breakinf seeing a team just self destruct like that
Why did Evans pump fake on the corners 3 ? Just shoot it. He has no confidense in his shot. How can it be that he hasn’t improved since his rookie year. I mean come on. Every year he supposedly is working on his j. No results,we get all excited if hr doesn’t lean back in his shot. How pathetic is that. I don’t believe someone can work on his j as much as he says he does and show no improvement. I think he is lazy . It shows in his d. He can be a great defender when he needs to be yet 90% of the time he never fights thru a screen and gives up open jumpers. I think if he hasn’t gotten it by now its atleast time to see what he is worth.
Thorton drives me crazy he is so streaky his perimeter d is sad. Constantly gets beat off the dribble. I hate the pairing of him and Evans cause having 2 guys who a lot of time ball hog kills our offense. Hoe many layups does Thompson miss every single game ? 2-3 he has awful hands I love his hustle but god him and Hickson dropping or fumbling every pass is sad.
Glad we FINALLY started Thomas why it took this long I’ll never know. Salmons gives us bad play every night I can’t believe it took 20 games to replace him. The less play making responsibilities Evans has the better we are. Cousins finally got a bunch of easy baskets tonight off guard penetration it was a real nice sight. The only players I wouldn’t trade at this point are I.T. and Cuz. Everyone else can go for the right deal. Our bench is nothing short of pathetic. J.j. is the worst he looks like a d leaguer, I’m not a fan of Hayes Your a pro athlete get your fat ass in shape. Come on dude,I can’t believe people were actually pumped we signed him. Although I was excited for Hickson and he has been worse that Hayes.
I feel bad for Cuz he plays hurt and player great dam near every night and our guard play and outside shooting is embarrassing. Hoe is it possible a NBA team shoots 40? U mean seriously. This was a tough loss we should if won,but its hard to win when u can only depend on 1 person showing up every night. This team need outside shooting consistently so bad. It’s time for a trade. Although our perimeter d was one of the most glaring factors tonight
It’s a shame that his great play is mostly being wasted. he really deserves better. I’m also worried that if the losing keeps up eventually he’s going to self destruct or turn on his teammates out of sheer frustration and disgust.
The clear point is our owners don’t seem interested in spending at the minute. I get it- but it paints a dark picture for the deadline. Maybe they’ll shock us- I hope so. But we have a 48m payroll and pieces tough to move, but full of young players with unknown upside. We are primed for a deal, but we’d have to take salary on. Something has to give.
I hate the Maloofs & for the last 5 years they tied GP’s hands. That said the Maloofs opened up the pocket book a little this year & GP gave us John Salmon, Travis Outlaw, & Chuck Hayes. That’s $57 million dollars right there. WTF??
What a game!!!
Slam_Dunk - February 17, 2012
If IT can keep this up. We will have ourselves a PG

VenomySnicket - February 17, 2012
What did they say?
raiderking21 - February 17, 2012
Just that we should be disappointed in his development.
With how many big men turn out to be complete busts, I really like JT. He’s found a job to do, and he does it.
VenomySnicket - February 17, 2012
Plus,
We drafted him out of Ryder. I mean, come on. It was between him or Randolph. We got the good one.
Neil Manich - February 17, 2012
And I really really wanted Randolph
ducks
VenomySnicket - February 17, 2012

His development has been pretty impressive all things considered.
raiderking21 - February 17, 2012

VenomySnicket - February 17, 2012

Slam_Dunk - February 17, 2012

Gordon crossed himself
raiderking21 - February 17, 2012
I just gotta say...
Cousins is so very good to have on our team. So glad we picked him over Monroe. AND he’s injured.
Schneezel - February 17, 2012
Should've gone number 1 easily in my book.
Letsgokings13 - February 17, 2012
Yep. He always said he should have been number one.
Slam_Dunk - February 17, 2012
Blatche, McGee and Cousins?
That sounds appetizing…
Schneezel - February 17, 2012
Cousins looks awesome in Slow Motion.
VenomySnicket - February 17, 2012
That was actually very cool.
VenomySnicket - February 17, 2012
Speaking of hot hands
Why is Thornton sitting for this long?
RJinFairOaks - February 17, 2012
He's in
raiderking21 - February 17, 2012

Howard Nevens IV - February 17, 2012
Cousins 20-10
Monroe 3 – 6
HeuristicLineup - February 17, 2012
And to think his red flags made Monroe look like a viable choice at 5.
Schneezel - February 17, 2012
Whatever you do - don't look at the mole.

These are the kinds of games I'm tired of losing

ElRonToro - February 17, 2012
Cuz with 20-10-3, nice.

I refuse to acknowledge that player’s existence.
Schneezel - February 17, 2012

Letsgokings13 - February 17, 2012
Wow... Now that's something to hear...
Cousins was 5 years old when Ben Wallace was arookie
HeuristicLineup - February 17, 2012

Letsgokings13 - February 17, 2012

I don’t expect much from Chuck on offense, but we really need him to hit open 6 foooters.
Neil Manich - February 17, 2012

X_47 - February 17, 2012
Jimmer is playing well
HeuristicLineup - February 17, 2012

Lets just say there is 20 cheerleaders…. how many know him? lol im curious.
Tyro18 - February 17, 2012
If they aren't deaf, all of them
They said his name over the loud speakers.

UNREC. DIE TROLL.

I don’t think Boourns is trolling

A Detroit douche
Just happy his miserable team won a game in front of DOZENS of adoring fans.
darooster - February 17, 2012
no need to get angry.
He is new and doesn’t know the rules. Take it easy on him.
X_47 - February 17, 2012
Got 8000+ posts on the Det SBN blog
And now posting photos in a Kings thread. Pretty sure that’s trolling, dude
darooster - February 17, 2012
So just because he is part of another blog, he cant post here?
He was posting during the whole game, not just at the end. As for the pics, different blogs have different rules and he didn’t know ours, he apologized, and its all done now.
X_47 - February 17, 2012
He's posting pics of a Pistons player after the Pistons win
Seems like gloating to me
darooster - February 17, 2012
In response to a comment i wrote about Brandon Knights nickname.
It was relevant to the comment. Unnecessary? Yes. Trolling/Gloating? No.
X_47 - February 17, 2012
Well, agree to disagree I guess
I say trolling/gloating, you say not.
Regardless, Kings should have won, John Salmons sucks, #SayYes, Go Kings, let’s all go get drunk.

X_47 - February 17, 2012
I'm not trying to be a dick about any of this dude, nor have I been a dick in your game threads all night
I already apologized twice, so at this point, I’m questioning your literacy more than my own. Not sure what else to say. Different blogs have different rules. I’ve never posted on an SBNation blog that didn’t allow pics in game threads so this is a new one for me.
The Boourns - February 17, 2012
Did I mention he was a Detroit douche?
Yeah
darooster - February 17, 2012
I posted that before you posted your comment.
X_47 - February 17, 2012

Evans tried to do something in limited time.
raiderking21 - February 17, 2012
no offense to Reke, but I'd prefer any of the other four currently on the court shooting a contested jumper
over Reke shooting a 3.

Schneezel - February 17, 2012
No. Just another player getting career highs against us
Letsgokings13 - February 17, 2012
Or there are a whole bunch of players on each team that holds a grudge against us for some reason
swoosh91 - February 17, 2012

kenji24 - February 17, 2012
Not saying we should fire Petrie.

Why do you get great success with your starting 5 tonight and then the WHOLE 4th quarter you rock the Chuck Hayes and John Salmons in the lineup? Go to what was working!
you put Isaiah in when there was NO time for him to do anything…sheesh.
Tyro18 - February 17, 2012
I think because MT couldn't guard Stucky
Neither could Salmons though it looks
Allbenji - February 17, 2012 via mobile
Apparently no one on the roster could
Considering his season average is 13.8 ppg
darooster - February 17, 2012

Tyro18 - February 17, 2012

J.R 50 - February 17, 2012 via mobile

DiegoKing - February 17, 2012
Sub in Jimmer for Salmons and yes
If you keep everything the same, and take away the several diamond lanes that Stuckey and Knight got, its a Kings win
Scirocco - February 17, 2012
Salmons was not the only problem. Our entire bench sucks. When the starters put us up buy a 10 the bench gave it away.
mjjr42002 - February 17, 2012
Trade Marcus, trade anyone.
Seriously, MAKE A FREAKING MOVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
KevinSalvadori - February 17, 2012
Thornton and Demarcus are a bit tiffed at each other.
Cousins, Evans, Thompson, and IT are the only players I’d bother keeping from this team… Jimmer played smart tonight, but I wish we’d taken Knight.

Slam_Dunk - February 17, 2012
DeMarcus Cousins was supposed to be out this game
And puts up 26 and 10. Salmons has been healthy for every game and has been horrific. Oy.
darooster - February 17, 2012
The most depressing part of this is our prospects for the trade-deadline.
We have no pieces we can trade and the Maloofs aren’t going to take on any sort of extra salary after hearing they have to pay 60 million up front.
Schneezel - February 17, 2012

Guys
What is this bullshit about LeBron wanting to return to Cleveland? I know it’s unrelated but seriously?
Schneezel - February 17, 2012
Well, he didn't necessarily say that.
He was more saying when his contract is up, or after he finishes one more contract, maybe he could retire a Cavalier…
I think its more being respectful to the Cavs fans..its not like hes acting Riley to trade him there.
Tyro18 - February 17, 2012
asking*
I can’t type today.
Tyro18 - February 17, 2012
It'll be a warm day in Cleveland before that happens.
Schneezel - February 17, 2012
So...okay.
I’m sure the Cavs will love to sign a 36-year old LeBron. What a primadonna.
KevinSalvadori - February 17, 2012
Don't be biased. If Bibby, Webber, Peja, etc. wanted to sign with us at 36 to retire a king, you'd welcome it.
Think of how Cavs fans might feel, except with a better player. Lebron James.
Tyro18 - February 17, 2012
LeBron will be as good as Salmons at 36.
KevinSalvadori - February 17, 2012
Hahahha... I look forward to that day. Nobody can be like Salmons..
Especially Lebron at 36.
Tyro18 - February 17, 2012
And I already stated.
Its not like its going to happen or its a possibility. It was more of respect by James and a nice gesture pretty much saying there is no love lost between him and the city for how they treated him when he left and how he treated them.
Tyro18 - February 17, 2012
Totally different idea, man
It’d be more like C-Webb leaving instead of resigning the big contract in Sacto years ago, and then wanting to return here at the end of his career. Completely different.
darooster - February 17, 2012
Of course its different, thats why they are ASKING HIM!
They don’t just ask Peja randomly after winning a title with Mavs “So Peja..any interest in returning to Kings before you retire?”
They are asking Lebron only because of all the hate there is apparently involved and he answered in a nice and positive way. Thats the nicest way to answer it aside from not answering at all!
Tyro18 - February 17, 2012
Yes, but that was not your original point
You compared Lebron and Bibby, Peja, Webber. The big difference is, none of them ever gave Sacramento a giant middle finger like Lebron gave to Cleveland.
darooster - February 17, 2012
Yes,...AGAIN
Thats why I am saying this. Stop thinking like a Kings fan, and think like a Cavs fan. If you want to think like a Kings fan, thats why I made that point, you would be open to their return. But if your a cavs fan, its different, because Lebron DID give them a huge middle finger and left.. so if your a Cavs fan, does Lebrons words mean anything, and would you welcome him back even to finish out his career? That was the point I was making.
Tyro18 - February 17, 2012
I think your original point came across incorrectly
Because this post is COMPLETELY the opposite of what you originally wrote. But OK.

Letsgokings13 - February 17, 2012
Salmons has been much worse than Outlaw
Not that Outlaw has been great, but Salmons went from a ballhog who could at least score a bit to a total waste of a roster spot. Outlaw has had at least a couple of passable/acceptable games.
darooster - February 17, 2012
Its Simple
IT= Ball Movement
No IT= No Ball Movement

Hear Ya
Smart put Salmons in over Isaiah to try to slow Prince and Stuckey, but it stifled our fast break offense in the process. And o yeah, Salmons can’t guard either one of those guys.
He will defend the move, but I call wimpy coaching. Go with the guys who were responsible for generating the lead. Not to mention Isaiah plays solid man defense and even better help defense.
And it was stupid to foul with 27 seconds left and down by two points.
bench_blob - February 17, 2012
There was a lot of good in that game, unfortunately we could stop them from scoring.
Slam_Dunk - February 17, 2012
I'm really not too bummed
After the inevitable letdown/reality check that was the Phoenix game, I pretty much resigned myself to the rest of the season. From here on I’m just looking for player development, team chemistry, etc. and not worrying about wins. This is still a bad team despite their periodic teasing of good play. Another high draft pick could be big.
deadenddude - February 17, 2012

WTF are the hornets wearing?
X_47 - February 17, 2012
By the way...
Knicks down 2 with a minute left…they came back.
SportCenter wont stop talking if Knicks come back and Lin wins it…
God, please let them lose.
Tyro18 - February 17, 2012
Up 5 with 33 seconds...looks better.
Tyro18 - February 17, 2012
Lots of rooting against the Kicks and Lin
I guess I’m one of the few around here that’s rooting for them.
deadenddude - February 17, 2012
Lin is absolutely overrated. Thats why Im sick of all the talk.
Tyro18 - February 17, 2012
I don't know if he's overrated, personally
But certainly an EXTREMELY small sample size. I want to see where he is at the end of the year. But he could certainly do worse for teammates to pass to – Melo and Amare? A PG has to be happy with that. Provided he doesn’t care about ever getting the ball passed back to him.
darooster - February 17, 2012
Very overrated.
Tyro18 - February 17, 2012
I love Cuban's quote:
If he played in Charlotte, no one would be talking.
KevinSalvadori - February 17, 2012
100% true
HeuristicLineup - February 17, 2012

monsterlxe - February 17, 2012
Hasn't he done most of this without Melo and Amare?
deadenddude - February 17, 2012
That's kinda funny.
DiegoKing - February 17, 2012
I think it's more about rooting against the hype

I could never root against Jeremy Lin. Gimme some Lin!!!
DiegoKing - February 17, 2012
I like lin(way overrated, but i like him) and i hate NY so im rooting for a loss.
X_47 - February 17, 2012
More over hyped than overrated
it is pretty incredible story though. it isn’t every day an undraftfed player comes out of nowhere and leads his team to seven straight wins.
deadenddude - February 17, 2012
oh it has been every day for the last week and a half
Letsgokings13 - February 17, 2012
So frustrating.
This team gives me ulcers and headaches. This game was a fun one actually imo, disappointing end but what are you gonna do?
DiegoKing - February 17, 2012
Trade for more experienced players
I’d jettison JT, JJ, Salmons, Garcia, Honeycutt, etc. to get ANY player that can help our starting lineup and take some pressure off the young guys.
Call me crazy, but I can totally see GP showcasing IT and Honeycutt, et al to prime for a deal.
KevinSalvadori - February 17, 2012
If only the Kings could somehow trade Petrie.
DiegoKing - February 17, 2012
Disagree with getting rid of JT
He’s been one of the most consistent Kings this year. I’ve been waiting several years for him to get his act together. I’d hate to see him go right when he’s finally getting it together.
deadenddude - February 17, 2012
Wow selloff on the 2nd best guy this team this year in JT..Throwing away Honeycutt before he has gotten any burn? No thank you
Widowwolf - February 17, 2012

Fried Jim-balaya, anyone?
HarveySpecter - February 17, 2012
Thornton
Letsgokings13 - February 17, 2012
He played good tonight
On BOTH sides of the ball.
HeuristicLineup - February 17, 2012
Most teams can't guard DMC.
The fact that DMC’s career high is only 28 shows how awful the rest of the team is at feeding Cousins the ball. He should be averaging 28 points a game on this Kings team.
ridingthebench - February 17, 2012

I feel sorry for Cousins too
It’s a shame that his great play is mostly being wasted. he really deserves better. I’m also worried that if the losing keeps up eventually he’s going to self destruct or turn on his teammates out of sheer frustration and disgust.

I have no faith in the Mallofs to let Petrie fix this, or if it is all Petries fault, I have no faith he'll fix it.
Letsgokings13 - February 17, 2012
I don't think it's GP's problem to solve.

Or we can sit like lame ducks. Whatever works for the Malindas

Some of GP's decisions have really added to the problem though.
The Salmons trade was one of the worst GM moves I’ve seen in a while.

The Petrie defending needs to stop
I hate the Maloofs & for the last 5 years they tied GP’s hands. That said the Maloofs opened up the pocket book a little this year & GP gave us John Salmon, Travis Outlaw, & Chuck Hayes. That’s $57 million dollars right there. WTF??

Actually, if we get an arena and keep the Kings in Sactown, I will call the season
a huge success.
Bill2 - February 17, 2012
Exactly... Kings could have gone 0-66 and as long as we won the arena battle
This would hands down be the best season in Sacramento franchise history

On the Other Hand... (Cup Half Full?)
This is supposed to be a deep draft coming up, right? :0
Darren King - February 17, 2012
