Kings lucky that wasn't a tech on Reke for throwing the ball in the air after the travel
and then the breakout dunk NICE… Kings really fighting to get back into this and take momentum. If Thornton can get an easy bucket it could help him get rolling, his timing and rhythm is way off right now if we just get him rolling then look out!
hasn’t hummer stepped up his game as of late?his 3 point percentage in the last five games is above 60% and is averaging around 15 a game. So what am I missing? I hear rumors he got into it with the coach..if that’s true then it makes total sense. To play him zero minutes something must have happened. If not and coach just doesn’t have a desire to play him anymore then he needs to be traded asap.
Portland is an athletic team, and Smart went with his athletes tonight.
The normal starting 5, plus Hayes off the bench, and then Hickson, Thomas, and Outlaw.
No Greene, no Garcia, no Fredette. The nine that played kicked a ton of ass defensively in the second half. Any of the other usual suspects would gotten used like a Shake n Bake bag.
Being at this game really brought a couple of things to light.
A.) Isaiah Thomas may be small but he plays like a grown man. great vision. Only one pass that i know he would want back.
B.) Smart does not sit down, he hounds these guys you can really see the difference with him as coach.
C.) John Salmons…. that is all
D.) Had Travis Outlaw actually made that dunk attempt I would have lost a bet an subsequently would have had to purchase his jersey (thank the heavens)
overall the effort got is getting better, i saw a lot of things i liked and some things i hated.
However, i would say from where i was sitting one of them wasn’t the best choice but the other seemed fine to me he really didn’t have many options. That block was magical.

Your comments were specific to Jimmer. I didn’t see you expressing concern over Garcia’s playing time, or Greene’s, or the fact that Cousins only played 15 minutes.
Well I'm not thrilled with Cousins' minutes either

As for Donte and Cisco, they have really shown nothing this entire season that would warrant their lack of playing time raising any flags. The 3 spot has been wide open but neither of them took it.
I’m a member here, too, and I’m as entitled to my opinion as anyone around here. And my opinion is that there are those around here that have way too much of a man crush on Jimmer Fredette, which causes said individuals to wring their hands in despair after a rare win instead of celebrating it.
That said, if you think that I posted something that is in violation of the site guidelines, flag it or email TZ.
And I’m not sure if berating others for asking legitimate basketball related questions and criticisms is against the rules or not, but excuse me for holding moderators to a higher standard.
Agree. There is an over-zealousness (blindness) in many Jimmer fans
Unfortunately, it has a polarizing effect. And it causes others to take the opposite stance, saying he’s a bust, etc.
The reality is somewhere in the middle. His offense has been promising, he’s one of our best 3-pt. shooter, etc. But he still needs a lot of work.
I’m a Jimmer fan and it’s hard for me to hear people bag on him just because I know the guy personally and like him a lot. But I get even more frustrated at the over-zelousness of some of his fans and am constantly keeping myself in check to make sure I’m looking at him objectively.
I’m saying instead of playing Outlaw we could have went with a three guard lineup. And those few minutes of Outlaw at the 4 should not happen. Especially with Outlaw on Aldridge.
Great Kings win, Salmons plays his first good game of this half century, Thomas makes an amazing block, JT plays very well, MT returns, and the thread devolves in Jimmer-Jimmer-Jimmer.
But I don’t think that minutes are a birthright for him, and I loathe the Jimmer jockeys that suggest trading him becuase he received a DNP-CD or those that think that the team should bend over backwards to get him on the floor. We won tonight, and yet that isn’t good enough for the Jimmermaniacs.
My frustration is not with Jimmer Fredette. It is with the fact that some feel that this is a Jimmer Fredette site that occasionally talks Kings basketball.
I’m out then. But in all seriousness I was just getting some frustrations out and dftly don’t want him traded. So I agree with you.We are only a month in with a lot of ball left to play. Hope kings keep the momentum going.
A DNP one or two games is nothing in the NBA. Happens to the best of them.
Smart just didn’t see the opportunity to use him and we can’t fault him for that since we won. Jimmer mania exists and we have to accept that also. With time that too will become dimmer unless he starts scoring 30 pts a night and I don’t see that happening in the near future. He needs time to adjust to the NBA but I do think in the long run he will do fine. Lots of pressure on his back with his fans demanding 6 or 7 threes a night.
I wasn’t pointing at you. I’m just stating a fact..as long as there are lovers there will always be haters …with any athlete and we have to get use to those extremes with jimmer
Golden State wins only 36% of its games on the road, so we should have beaten Golden State. The win was nice, but not as nice as if Golden State had been 50% or so on the road. The Kings have had a hard schedule. In the remainder of the season they will face a number of teams that are averaging less than 50% on the road. The Kings would need eight more games against 27 % chance of winning teams to get back to an expected 50% win season.
As for Jimmer, I think Jimmer needs about fifteen minutes a game in many games to learn how to play in the nba. He needs many chances to prove he can play in the nba before we judge him. That does not mean playing every game. His three point and free throw shooting percentages are the only good statistics he has going now. His points and assists per 36 minutes are poor. (I do not have access to all the statistics now). Isiah Thomas is averaging around 5 assists per 36 minutes and, in a few other ways is outplaying Jimmer. If Jimmer shines when he plays he will get more minutes. If he does not, he will continue to get development minutes.
As for Outlaw, every player on the team needs a chance now and then to show what they can do. This was Outlaw’s chance. He did not do great, but I am glad Smart gave him a chance.
On another matter, wouldn’t it be nice if Honeycutt played decently when given the chance? I don’t expect it, but I can fantasize, can’t I?

He’s a decent player, but he’s such a chucker.
otis29 - February 3, 2012
I would like to remind everyone
that the last time we went with a IT, Jimmer, Reke lineup against the Blazers everyone was bitching and moaning about how horrid it was.
wallywagon11 - February 2, 2012
That was before, and doesn't count, because, well, you know.
andy sims - February 2, 2012
Stupid Wally
Why do you insist on injecting common sense into this conversation? What an asshole
;)
darooster - February 2, 2012
[kidding of course :) ]
wallywagon11 - February 2, 2012
GASP
Well, I never!
darooster - February 2, 2012
HelloMyNameIs? - February 2, 2012
Well we can experiment with it more with Thornton back
IT/Jimmer/Reke
Jimmer/Reke/Salmons
Jimmer/Thornton/Salmons
Jimmer/Thornton/Reke
Etc.
Scirocco - February 2, 2012 via mobile
So the only way to avoid the IT, Jimmer, Reke lineup is to not play Jimmer at all?
deadenddude - February 3, 2012
96 minutes at guard
if IT Marcus and Reke get all 96, life’s a bitch.
wallywagon11 - February 3, 2012
Uhhh who plays the 5 then?
Outlaw did his job and tyreke cant play any more mins then he did and stil be effective
cqaguilar - February 2, 2012
Umm
We have THREE guys who can play the five.
I’m saying instead of playing Outlaw we could have went with a three guard lineup. And those few minutes of Outlaw at the 4 should not happen. Especially with Outlaw on Aldridge.
Scirocco - February 2, 2012 via mobile
I think that lineup got killed by Portland last time
markdog333 - February 3, 2012
Tyreke isn't a three
Learn it, know it, live it.
otis29 - February 3, 2012
How weird was it
for us to be the team to make the proper halftime adjustments?
section214 - February 2, 2012
I wasn't on the fire PW bandwagon
but I’m loving me some in game coaching.
markdog333 - February 3, 2012
I'm out
Great Kings win, Salmons plays his first good game of this half century, Thomas makes an amazing block, JT plays very well, MT returns, and the thread devolves in Jimmer-Jimmer-Jimmer.
Night all.
section214 - February 2, 2012
Something tells me you don't really like Jimmer.
Bill2 - February 2, 2012
I like him, like him a lot
But I don’t think that minutes are a birthright for him, and I loathe the Jimmer jockeys that suggest trading him becuase he received a DNP-CD or those that think that the team should bend over backwards to get him on the floor. We won tonight, and yet that isn’t good enough for the Jimmermaniacs.
My frustration is not with Jimmer Fredette. It is with the fact that some feel that this is a Jimmer Fredette site that occasionally talks Kings basketball.
section214 - February 2, 2012
Pardon me, but fuckin' A.
Double rec’d. Put down the Kool-aid.
andy sims - February 2, 2012
you mean its not a jimmer website?
I’m out then. But in all seriousness I was just getting some frustrations out and dftly don’t want him traded. So I agree with you.We are only a month in with a lot of ball left to play. Hope kings keep the momentum going.
mmarcum - February 2, 2012
A DNP one or two games is nothing in the NBA. Happens to the best of them.
Smart just didn’t see the opportunity to use him and we can’t fault him for that since we won. Jimmer mania exists and we have to accept that also. With time that too will become dimmer unless he starts scoring 30 pts a night and I don’t see that happening in the near future. He needs time to adjust to the NBA but I do think in the long run he will do fine. Lots of pressure on his back with his fans demanding 6 or 7 threes a night.
Bill2 - February 2, 2012
I eagerly await DimmerMania.™
andy sims - February 2, 2012
Beat me to it - bastard!
section214 - February 2, 2012
I knew someone would bite on the dimmer word. Two of you.
Bill2 - February 2, 2012
As long as you have jimmer lovers you will always have the haters too.
mmarcum - February 2, 2012
It's not hate.
It’s just settle-the-fuck-down already. We like the kid, but the fanboys are bordering on irrational.
andy sims - February 2, 2012
in other words
Fire Smart!
betweentheeyes - February 2, 2012
whoa relax
I wasn’t pointing at you. I’m just stating a fact..as long as there are lovers there will always be haters …with any athlete and we have to get use to those extremes with jimmer
mmarcum - February 2, 2012
Do a little dance for a win!
wallywagon11 - February 2, 2012
I can't believe a site dedicated to a team that has been as bad as the Kings have been for so long...
…is now actually drawing a sharp line between a win, and a win when certain players don’t play.
We don’t get enough wins around here to afford to be butthurt when your favorite player in the whole wide world can’t get his warmups off.
I loved Keon Clark, but you didn’t see me in here bitching about 60 wins not being so great because he wasn’t starting.
andy sims - February 2, 2012
We just need to dance
HelloMyNameIs? - February 2, 2012
Salmons is player of the game, Kings win on defense, Jimmer has a DNP-CD and StR goes offline
betweentheeyes - February 2, 2012
For the Win
Slam_Dunk - February 3, 2012
Good win but likely win
